Today, we worked on vocabulary for Unit 1. As we begin each new unit, we will complete vocabulary. It is beneficial to the students if they are familiar with the terms before we dig into the unit. Please remember that if you need to access the online textbook, you can use the link above.
Tomorrow is Picture Day! If students are buying pictures, they need to bring their money tomorrow.

Today we had a guest speaker from Cobb County Water Systems. He talked to the students about the Model Water Tower Competition. For more information, please visit Mr. Hinsley's blog.
Tomorrow night is Back to School Night at 5:15 pm. Please do not bring your students with you. We look forward to meeting all parents and guardians. Today we took the Astronomy Pre Test and continued the textbook scavenger hunt to get to know our textbook.
Today we took the lab safety quiz. Students did so well! I also distributed textbooks. Please remember they stay in my classroom. If students need to access the textbook from home, please use the link above to access it online.
Today we completed the SGM, Student Growth Measure for Science. Students took it today and will complete it again at the end of the school year to measure their science academic growth.
Lab Safety Quiz on Monday. Today we did a toothpick lab for students to begin to be familiar with lab procedures and safety. Monday we will have a quiz over lab safety.
Today we completed the lab safety scientist from yesterday. We also read about lab safety and had to correct the mistakes the students made.
East Cobb Middle School uses thinking maps to engage our learners. Today we completed a circle map regarding lab safety. Quiz on Friday over lab safety. We began our lab safety scientists. Each student was given a template of a scientist and had to add 3 safety rules to the scientist. They also had to write a summary about lab safety rules.
Today we discussed the safety procedures followed for code red, fire drills, and severe weather. We also discussed lab equipment and the uses of the different pieces of equipment. Students completed a worksheet in class.
Today we went over more classroom procedures and completed a getting to know you activity. Science students need to bring back the signed syllabus and lab safety contract. Homeroom students need to have the following forms signed and returned: the performing arts form, student information card, clinic card, and the family information guidelines. Have a good weekend!
