Today we took the Unit 6 test. Tomorrow we will have the unit 6 notebook check while we work on the unit 6 test corrections.
Today we continued our review of Unit 6 for the test tomorrow. We went over the answers to the review guide as a class. We also played Kahoot for review.
Today we began to review for the Unit 6 Layers of the Earth and Plate Tectonics test. Unit 6 test will be Wednesday. Students also turned in the postcard project from before the break.
Also, Mercedes-Benz field trip permission slips and money are due on March 11 to homeroom teachers. Today in class we worked on postcards from different places around the world where tectonic activity created landforms. Classes 1-3 need to do 2 postcards with the opportunity for 1 bonus postcard. Class 4 needs to do 4 postcards with the opportunity for 1 bonus postcard.
Today we did "Snack Tectonics", which was a lab using graham crackers, fruit roll-ups, and icing to represent the types of crust and plate boundaries. Students should have turned in the lab sheet when they were finished. If not it needs to be completed tonight and turned in tomorrow for a grade.
Today we discussed plate boundaries, the specific landforms or features that occurs at each boundary, and real world examples of the boundaries. We also watched the plate tectonics brain pop.
Today we took notes on Pangaea and continental drift. I postponed the quiz about the layers of Earth until Tomorrow. The quiz will be 12 questions.
HOMEROOM: Bring back progress report envelopes signed, Mercedes-Benz permission slips, and 2019-20 Enrollment Forms Today we watched Bill Nye's Earth's Crust video with notes. We also read pages 526-530. Tomorrow there will be a quiz over Earth's Layers.
Today we modeled the layers of Earth by making paper plate layers. Students measure the distances to create a to scale model. See below for the sample product.
