Today we modeled the solar system. We calculated the distance between planets in steps and walked the distances on the blacktop outside. Students had an accompanying worksheet . Please be sure to bring the worksheet to class on Monday so we can discuss the worksheet.

Today we went to the star lab. We looked at the constellations, the milky way and planets, and the phases of the moon. There was a worksheet for homework. Students who were absent can pick one up from me when they return to school.
Today we took Unit 1 Quiz: Solar System, Galaxy, Universe.
***We will have our Unit 1 Test on Friday, September 7.*** Today we continued to discuss the difference between comets, asteroids, and meteoroids. We watched 2 Brainpop videos and completed 2 different activities relating to the videos. Finally, we reviewed for tomorrow's quiz. Students should use any notes taken in class to review at home.
Today we discussed small bodies in the solar systems (dwarf planets, comets, asteroids, and meteoroids). We read Lesson 6 in the text and completed a tree map. I've included the PowerPoint in today's post as well as a completed tree map.
Today we continued to discuss the planets in our solar system. We completed the chart that was given out on Thursday. Please see Thursday's Blog Post if your student needs the chart and double bubble.
Today we began to explore the planets in the solar system. Students worked in class on a planet chart. For homework students are to complete the double-bubble thinking map that was on the back of the chart. They are to compare a planet of their choice to Earth.
Today we completed the virtual lab from yesterday to finish our discussion of gravity. Students learned how distance and mass affect gravity. Also, I am working on entering grades into ParentVue.
Today we did a virtual lab exploring the orbits of the moon and Earth and how gravity is affected by mass and distance.
Here is the website in case you'd like to experience the lab at home: phet.colorado.edu/en/simulation/gravity-and-orbits Today we watched Brainpop: Big Bang Theory, Galaxies, and The Milky Way, and took notes. If you were not in class, please get the notes and worksheet from me.
