Classes 1 & 3Today we started Storm Projects. Students were assigned a storm and need to complete a presentation (powerpoint, sway, word doc, adobe spark, etc). Projects will be presented in class. Project is due at the end of class on Monday.
Classes 2 & 4Today we started Storm Projects. Students were assigned a storm and need to complete a presentation (powerpoint, sway, word doc, adobe spark, etc). Projects will be presented in class. Students also need to create or draw a model of a building that would withstand the assigned storm. This is 40% of the grade, so the models/drawings need to be of good quality. Project is due at the beginning of class on Thursday. We will begin presentations Thursday during class.
Today we took some more notes on Wind and Air Pressure. We also watch Bill Nye.
HOMEWORK: Finish the air mass worksheet. Today we continued to talk about Land and Sea Breezes. We finished p. 285 in the book from yesterday. We took more notes and completed a classwork assignment.
Today we read about winds - global and local. We answered the questions on page 285 in our book.
Today we took a classwork quiz (not a quiz grade, only a classwork grade) over heat transfer.
Class 3 finished page 271 from yesterday. We also went outside for a reward lunch for students with no discipline referrals for first semester. :) Reminders: Homeroom students, please bring back signed report card envelopes, compact form, and enrollment forms. Thanks! Classes 1, 2, and 4 went to the lab today to determine if land or water heats and cools faster.
Class 3 read pages 260-270 in the book and answered the review questions on page 271. Today we continued our discussion of heat transfer. We created a foldable to help us remember the difference between radiation, conduction, and convection. This is number 8 in the notebook.
Today we reviewed global warming and the greenhouse effect. We also started talking about heat transfer.
