Today we reviewed eclipses and took a classwork quiz for a classwork grade. Students were able to use notes and the book, but not their friends. :) We will have the Unit 2 Test on Thursday, 10/3. CONFERENCES FOR HART'S HOMEROOM ONLYConference letters were sent home today with the students in my homeroom only. To sign up for a conference, please use the Sign-Up Genius link or the QR code on the form or at the bottom of this post. At ECMS, conferences are held by homeroom/1st period. Please do not sign up for a conference with the link if your student is in my 2nd, 3rd, or 4th period class.
There are 3 choices for conferences: OPTION 1: A face-to-face traditional conference, where you can sit down with one of your child’s teachers. You will receive your child’s grades and an overview of his/her progress in all areas. OPTION 2: A phone conference where you can speak with one of your child’s teachers to discuss their academic progress and have a progress summary report sent home with your child on Friday, October 18, 2019. OPTION 3: You have determined that no conference is necessary at this time, but you would like a progress summary report to be sent home with your child on Friday, October 18, 2019. Link: https://tinyurl.com/hartfall2019 Today we watched Bill Nye about the moon. We also watched Brainpop Moon Phases and Eclipses. There will be a moon phase and eclipse quiz tomorrow. Also, some students have lost their moon calendar. I've attached the file below in case your child needs to reprint it.
Today we talked about moon phases. Students should be logging the moon phase each night on their chart. Charts are due on October 7 for a project grade.
Today we continued to learn about seasons. We completed the seasons Flocabulary and took a pop quiz.
Here is a good interactive website to help understand seasons: highered.mheducation.com/sites/007299181x/student_view0/chapter2/seasons_interactive.html Today we graphed the data from the chart on Thursday. This assignment is number 5 in the notebook for classes 1, 2, and 4.
Class 3 - we read Unit 2 Lesson 1 and answered the questions from the book. Today Mr. Moore from Cobb Water came to speak with us about the Cobb County Watershed and water pollution. Fun was had by all!
Today we worked on our Seasons lab and hypothesized what affects the temperature of an area the most: daylight hours or direct and indirect sunlight? Link to lab; store.lab-aids.com/middle-school-curriculum/simulations/sepup_seasons5.html I forgot to mention that yesterday, we got our Unit 2 project; create a moon calendar. We filled in what the moon looked like last night. You will need to do this until 10/7/19, which includes the fall break. Hint: if you miss a day, check here - www.moongiant.com/phase/today/ Class 3 Only: read pages 115-123. Complete the in-reading questions as well as the questions on page 123. Page 123 is due tomorrow. If you can't access the book online, please use the PDF below.
Today students took the Unit 2 Pretest - Sun, Moon, Seasons. Also, students completed Unit 2 Vocabulary. Vocabulary should be completed at home if it was not finished in class. For guided help, see Mr. Hinsley's blog post: hinsleyearthscience.weebly.com/unit--2-2019-2020
Today there was a substitute teacher. Students completed 2 worksheets on the solar system.
